Georgia O'Keeffe Inspired Skulls
Grade Level: Elementary, 1st-6th, Adaptable to Middle School
Title: Georgia O'Keeffe Inspired Skulls
Objectives: Students will create a unique skull shape artwork in the style of artist Georgia O'Keeffe using paper and tempera paint. Students will learn about the artwork and life of artist Georgia O'Keeffe. Students will learn how to create symmetry in a work of art. Students learn how to use their own name and folded paper to create the skull shape.
Standard(s) Used: (1.5) Identify and describe elements of art in works of art, emphasizing line, color, shape/form, texture, space, and value.
Materials: White drawing paper, blue and white tempera paint, brushes, water containers, paper towels, brown scrap construction paper, brown and black crayons, glue, tissue paper (for flowers).
Vocabulary: Symmetry, balance, tempera paint, landscape.
